McDonalds and Bacon
Nov 26th, 2008 by Matthew

Here in Australia McDonalds now offers bacon on any burger for an extra dollar. Why you’d want bacon on your fillet-o-fish I dunno, but people are weird like that. Bacon truly adds a whole new dimension to the heart disease causing burgers. For instance, try a triple cheeseburger with bacon on top – it’s almost as bad as eating pure fat itself!

However, we got bored of simply eating a triple cheeseburger, fries, and a coke. So we took $5, went to the counter, and asked for $5 of bacon! Now, this is totally unheard of… I mean, why bother when you can simply buy 3 times the amount of bacon and make it yourself! That is of course what the cashier told us, but we replied quickly with “yeah, but we have to cook it then!” Why would we cook it (which would’ve required walking home too) when we can buy it at McDonald’s? Not to mention, we’d need a woman to cook it for us :/

The cashier ended up serving us $5 worth of bacon, which equates to 5 rashers. It was really good bacon, better than anything the supermarkets could do… Which is funny, considering it’s McDonalds. Maybe it’s because they were dripping in fat.

Next time you go to McDonalds ask for bacon! Maybe they’ll get the hint and serve eggs too. Imagine that – bacon and eggs at McDonalds!

Uh oh…
Nov 24th, 2008 by James

I really don’t like working to a schedule when it comes to humour. I like to just live my life, and write down everything awesome that i come up with. However I have come to realise that this means I generally don’t write any comics…so i’ve decided to give myself a schedule. From now on, on the 1st of every month, i’m going to upload a comic!

Note: This is going to be AS WELL AS my random update schedule so far, i’m not going to be all “i’m giving myself a schedule” just to REDUCE the amount of comics I do. So its still worth checking back occasionally to see what i’ve come out with.

Also, if you’re in america read that as the last of every month, because y’all are so backwards. (Joking (no, actually i’m not)). I might upgrade it to fortnightly, weekly, or tri-weekly eventually, but right now I have NO idea how this is going to turn out, so I’m playing it convervatively. Wish me luck! =D

LAN Party in Formal Attire
Nov 23rd, 2008 by Matthew

We successfully made it to the LAN in formal attire, and had an absolute BLAST. James stayed for the night and owned until the sun rose again, while Matthew had other committments to make.

Here we are in our formal suits... That smile on James' face is due to him owning everyone :/

LAN in progress
Nov 23rd, 2008 by James
I write this post through a mixed haze of sleep deprivation and caffeine-induced twitchiness, at 1:30AM on satur- err, sunday the 23nd, at what will possibly be the last GateWayLAN I attend, thanks to the chief organiser moving on. On my left, I have two empty bottles of raspberry V. On my right, I have my razer diamondback gaming mouse (shut up, i used to have a copperhead but it broke). And at the front, behind my keyboard, I have a half-eaten box of arnott’s “cheds”. And whats more, I am still wearing my waistcoat and tie, and wearing them well I might add. I have just gotten “yakety sax” off youtube and into MP3 (and subsequently windows media player) using Audacity, set my audio input to “stereo mix”, and gleefully typed “+voicerecord” into counter-strike:source’s console window. Somehow playing such a boring game is made 100 times more enjoyable than anybody could ever expect simply by knowing that everybody on your team is participating in your own world of saxophone-induced madness. I just thoroughly lost to my arch-nemesis, Stoodley, in a game of counter strike, but then won back my self-esteem by running 42 kills to 8 deaths in a game of team fortress 2 directly thereafter. I still haven’t managed to convince the other participants to play a game of FEAR combat, and my empty drink collection of 2 V bottles is feeling intimidated by the 5-pepsis and 3-solos collection on my right, and the 1-ice-break, 2-V-cans, 2-pepsis, 2-solos and 1-energy-drink-that-is-unidentifiable-from-this-distance-at-1:30-in-the-morning collection on my left. In comparison, my consumption is humble. I have a third bottle of V to come, as well as seven hours of gaming.
I better get cracking.

LAN in Formal Attire, Anyone?
Nov 21st, 2008 by Matthew

Hi all,

That’s right, it’s happening!

We’ve been planning to go to a LAN party in full formal attire for a while, and while it’s like paying $300 to go to the LAN, it’s worth every little bit.

And now, on the 22nd of November, we are going to be going to a LAN party in full formal attire. Photos will be being taken and I’ll post them up here when we return.

For reference, this is inspired by this XKCD comic:

But... we can do BOTH!

But... we can do BOTH!

We’re definitely going to have fun!

If you’re online around 11 AM AEST to around 10 PM AEST (both GMT + 10 hours) on the 22nd, either join #wikiforall on irc.freenode.net, or find “Shadyjames” or “pcmattman” online in TF2, Half-Life 2 Deathmatch, or some other random game and join the fun.

We’d love to hear from you, or even take you on online, on the day!

Recent Downtime
Nov 21st, 2008 by Matthew

Hi everyone,

As this blog is a place for us to keep you up to date with what’s going on, I thought I’d use this to explain the recent downtime we’ve had on the server.

You can find the post explaining this here.

Well, well, well…
Nov 17th, 2008 by James

Well, well, well… what do we have here then? A blog…

I never thought I’d see the day. From two students with a little bit of spare time, a server, and a sense of humour running a wiki, we’ve grown to… well, pretty much the same thing. The only thing thats different is now we’re running a blog as well as a wiki, “a little bit of spare time” has turned into “we’re rich, young, and unemployed” (minus rich), and our server, while not having changed per se, has however been re-diagnosed as a pile of crap and latency. As I write this Matthew’s little brother is playing Need For Speed on the webserver, which is a barrel of laughs for everybody who’s trying to request image files from the comics section.

We decided to set up this blog simply because it gives us a level of accessibility with our readers (ie. nobody) which can only be reached through news posts and updates on our activities! Because while it’s all well and good to be working on a website behind the scenes, nobody’s going to find your new content unless you have a great big song and dance about it in the news section.

Coincidentally, have you seen our new comic management system, complete with five new comics?

I’m not going to post a link to it here simply because the state of this server is changing so much lately the link could be a abseiling harness by the time anybody reads this post, but I’m sure you know where to find the comics. Or at least, I hope you do. Because I sure don’t!
